Road Runner 500

A self-weighted barrier that is designed to provide effective barricading and containment without the need for water, sand, or other external ballasting materials. It relies on its own weight and structural design for stability. The key features include:

This type of barrier is ideal for managing pedestrian flow, light vehicle traffic, or demarcating safe zones in construction sites, events, or roadwork.

Features

Solid Construction: The barrier is made from heavy-duty materials, utilising a combination of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and recycled PVC, ensuring it is heavy enough to remain stable under normal environmental conditions.
Interlocking Design: Barriers feature a moulded in tail system that allows an interlocking connection, allowing multiple units to be easily connected for extended coverage, enhancing overall stability without external reinforcement.
Compact Size: At 500mm in height, the barrier is low-profile but still tall enough to provide a physical obstruction. It is particularly suitable for temporary or semi-permanent installations in areas requiring lower-height barriers.
Non-Ballasted: Unlike traditional barriers that rely on filling with water or sand for weight, this design is self-contained and requires no additional material for setup, reducing setup time and maintenance.
Portability: Despite its self-weight, the barrier is designed to be portable, making it easy to deploy, rearrange, and remove without specialized equipment. Forklift lifting points have been integrated into the design for easy transportation.
Available in Red and White.

    Wind Resistance

All temporary traffic barriers must be able to withstand three different classes of wind speeds with the use of a ballast. The standard BS 8442:2022 states the three classes as the following:

    Class A: 26.3 m/s (58 mph)
    Class B: 17.6 m/s (39 mph)
    Class C: 8.7m/s (19 mph)

The Road Runner system was tested under strict conditions at the Full Scale Wind Tunnel at Mira to determine at which wind speeds the barrier can withstand. Below are the results and guides as to the recommended ballast weight for each Wind Class:

    Class C
    Withstood up to 34 mph.
    Recommended Ballast Weight: 0 kg
    Class B
    Withstood up to 42 mph.
    Recommended Ballast Weight: 15 kg
    Class A
    Withstood up to 65 mph.
    Recommended Ballast Weight: 55 kg
